An increasing focus on health and environment-related issues has caused consumers to be more conscious of the kinds of fruits and vegetables they are buying. Concerns about pesticides, genetically modified ingredients and potentially harmful factory-farming practices have led to an increased amount of shoppers purchasing organic products-- defined by the FDA as food that is grown and produced using methods that recycle resources and promote biodiversity, without using synthetic pesticides. But with the emergence of the organic produce movement have also come critics that doubt these fruits and vegetables are really superior
